CREATING A FAMILY LEGACY
Ammo Depot was the dream of a Cali surfer boy Mickey Lowrey, who loved his cars almost as much as his guns. California was hardly hospitable to the business of selling arms even then, so Texas was of course the first choice.
First it all started slow, with Mickey working in the back of a functional laundromat. As the customers kept growing, so did the need for inventory and space. A dedicated store was the next step, and Mickey's business was booming, with Mickey being a prime importer for Norinco in Dallas. However, city life and pressures once again made business difficult, so the decision was made to set up closer to home.
In a little nook of land off the main highway in what was previously called Paradise Texas, Mickey began laying out his dream location. Once the building was set, the guns went on the shelf and flew off just as quickly. Eventually a range space was needed for customers to enjoy shooting their new spoils, so Mickey once again set to work.
30 business years were invested before Ammo Depot changed hands, but they had to be the best. Naturally, no one better than his own son to operate. Colt Lowrey took over for his dad in what is now Caddo Mills Texas, and operates what is there today.
Humble beginnings and humble endings, except the journey continues!
